Taking a honest look at the integrated process in action for campus sustainability, panelists will discuss how institutions can best create a supportive community in pursuit of its sustainability goals. Looking at specific instances of how this has (and hasn¹t) worked, panelists will address sustainability frameworks such as the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment, USGBC’s LEED green building rating system, and AASHE STARS as applied to areas such as curriculum, facilities and campus culture.

Children in the United States continue to face risks arising from exposure to pests and pesticides in school settings. School IPM is an approach to managing pests that schools can use to reduce pest and pesticide risk for students and staff. EPA’s recently-released Strategic and Implementation Plans for School IPM demonstrate how the EPA will promote the goal that all of the nation’s children be covered by a verifiable and ongoing school IPM program.

EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) announces the availability of approximately $700,000 for assistance agreements to further, through research, development, monitoring, public education, training, demonstrations, or studies, the adoption of verifiable integrated pest management (IPM) by the nation’s kindergarten to 12th grade public and tribal schools.PM is a sustainable approach to managing pests that combines biological, cultural, physical, and chemical tools in a way that minimizes economic, health, and environmental risks.
