Better Buildings’ partners, Walgreens, Rocky Mountain Institute, and the National Institute of Building Sciences will share details of their zero energy building efforts and their collaboration experiences to examine the feasibility of zero energy quick serve restaurants, as well as recent advances in the development of an industry definition for the term zero energy.

Grant Workshop to Support Farmers Market and Local Food Promotion Program
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) and National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA) today announced a partnership through the Agricultural Marketing Service Technical Assistance (AMSTA) Project to conduct workshops that will help potential grant applicants understand, develop, and submit their Federal grant applications for the Farmers Market and Local Food Promotion Program. Paint Stewardship in Rural Areas
Rural areas often face unique challenges with paint collection, largely because they tend to be comprised of very small, yet sprawling, populations. This can drive up transportation costs and make it difficult to establish convenient collection sites. It is also quite difficult to build infrastructure for new paint collection sites and reuse programs in rural areas, and to educate rural area residents about the new programs, particularly in states that do not have paint stewardship laws.
