U.S. EPA Region 5 partnered with the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa to create a Tribal Community-Based Social Marketing (CBSM) Training Guide. This training guide provides an overview of how to use the CBSM process to increase sustainable behaviors in tribal communities. CBSM combines marketing techniques with community engagement and has proven to be far more effective in leading to sustainable behaviors than information dissemination alone.

Learn more about CBSM, how to use the Tribal CBSM Training Guide, and how to receive peer mentoring to develop your own CBSM project through the EPA Tribal Waste Management Peer Matching Program.

Students who attend the NCSE 2017 Conference will have opportunities to lead, learn, network, and engage throughout the conference:
-Meet and network with current leaders in health and the environment during a mentoring lunch
-Attend a Student Network Leadership Meeting to share ideas and best practices for sustainability programs on campus
-Present a research poster
-Attend student-focused and student-driven sessions throughout the conference
-Register for a career development panel to hear advice on how to grow as a leader and young professional exploring career pathways in science and the environment

The theme of the 11th annual Iowa Water Conference, “Watershed Management: Partnerships for Progress,” promotes water resource management from a watershed perspective, with a particular emphasis on the partnerships necessary to accomplish goals. Improving water management on a watershed scale is a complex undertaking due to the variety and sheer number of stakeholders. Watersheds do not adhere to political jurisdictions; they often cross borders of different cities of town, counties, and in some cases, states.
