Getting food from the farm to our fork takes a significant amount of energy, land and water resources, yet up to 40 percent of food in the U.S. today goes uneaten. Food waste is the single largest component of municipal landfills. This webinar will explore state efforts to reduce food waste, highlighting landfill bans, waste-to-energy systems, and tax incentives to encourage food donations.
An overview of the CBSM process;  How the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College increased its recycling rate by 41% using the CBSM process;  How to use the Tribal CBSM Training Guide; and;  How to receive peer mentoring to develop your own CBSM project through the EPA National Tribal Waste Management Peer Matching Program.

As food waste continues to become a mainstream problem, the need for resources and information about how to reduce waste from the source, recover it if possible and where it should go become essential. The Midwest Food Recovery Summit will focus on ALL of the recovery options.
