EVENT: August 25 – September 4, 2017
The Sustainability Pavilion is a great place to reach out to State Fair guests with an activity, a “make & take” project, a demonstration, or a presentation.  The Sustainability Pavilion is focused on sharing with and encouraging the public to make better environmental choices.
WKSP: September 6, 2017 (1:00 pm-4:00 pm)
Are you passionate about the three R’s? Do you want to take our community to the next level of wise waste management? Is a strong environmental ethic a core value for your business or organization? Learn how our community can use a systemic approach to using and reusing materials more productively over their entire life cycle at this workshop.

As food waste continues to become a mainstream problem,  the need for resources and information about how to reduce waste from the source , recover it if possible and where it should go become essential. The Midwest Food Recovery Summit will focus on ALL of the recovery options.
EVENT: September 7, 2017
In conjunction with the Culinary Arts & Restaurant Management program at Des Moines Public Schools’ Central Campus, two teams of high school students will showcase innovative and unique ways to present three judges with a delicious gourmet dish from… FOOD WASTE!
WBNR: August 18, 2017 (1:00pm-2:00 pm)
Learn how to navigate EPA’s Water Finance Clearinghouse, an easily navigable web-based portal, to help communities locate information and resources that will assist then in making informed decisions for their drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure needs.
WBNR: August 24, 2017 (12:00pm-1:30 pm)
We can reduce food loss and waste throughout the food system, and significant reductions can happen at institutions, such as schools. Students and schools can find opportunities and participate in actions that reduce waste and ensure nutritious food ends up feeding people, not landfills – by taking a closer look at what’s being thrown away at their location.
